"plastic" to create a green life, two new national standards for biodegradable products released

\On November 26, 2021, the State Administration of Market Supervision (National Standardization Administration) issued two biodegradation-related standards: GB/T 41010-2021 "Requirements for Degradation Performance and Identification of Biodegradable Plastics and Products" and GB/T 41008-2021 "Biodegradable Drinking Straws". These two standards will be officially implemented on June 1, 2022.

GB/T 41010-2021 "biodegradable plastics and products degradation performance and identification requirements"

What products does this standard apply?
applies to the following types of biodegradable plastics and products:
  • natural polymer materials;

  • synthetic polymers;

  • materials containing additives such as plasticizers, pigments or other compounds;

  • mixtures of the above materials;

  • all kinds of biodegradable materials processed products.

After the release of the GB/T 41010-2021 standard, the test proves that the material or product meets the degradation performance requirements in the standard, and can be printed on the product or packaging."jj"identification.

"jj" is taken from the first letter of the degraded pinyin. It is designed to be human-shaped, and it also reflects the design concept of caring for the environment from the young to the old.

"jj" logo was on September 8, 2020, which appeared in the "Guidelines for the Classification and Identification of Degradable Plastic Products" issued by the China National Light Industry Council. At that time, the "jj" logo was only described in the form of a guide. The national standard GB/T 41010-2021 released this time will standardize the "jj" biodegradable logo in the country, which is equivalent to stipulating the biodegradable ID card at the national standard level.

GB/T 41008-2021Biodegradable Drinking Straws

Which straws are applicable to this standard?

This standard applies to straws made of biodegradable resin, and also applies to straws covered with, coated with or compounded with biodegradable plastics in contact with food, as well as drinking straws made of natural polymer materials as the main raw material, and does not apply to straws made of pure paper.
